Simple Habits that Made the Biggest Difference for My Skin

I was always the girl who had perfectly curled under bangs. Partly because I liked them, but mostly because I couldn't stand the thought of people seeing the thousands of little red bumps all over my forehead.

I was always the girl who wore a full face of makeup everyday. Partly because I liked it, but mostly because I didn't feel pretty unless my scars were covered.

I was always the girl who spent hours in the sun or made weekly trips to tanning bed. Partly because I liked my tan skin, but mostly because I was trying to fry off my acne scars. The tanner I was, the less noticeable my scars were, and the prettier I felt.

As a woman, I was tired of being in a constant war with my skin. Constantly trying to cover it up... constantly trying to tanner and tanner... constantly putting myself down because of how my skin was acting... constantly cringing at myself when I looked in the mirror. I was tired of it all!

Of course I wanted smooth, healthy, glowing skin! Even more so, I wanted to look in the mirror and feel beautiful in the skin I'm in. I wanted to feel free to be me. I wanted to feel confident and be fearlessly authentic.

For me, I found that having the right information and by doing simple, every day habits made the biggest difference for my skin. After a little while, I finally had smooth, healthy, glowing skin, which helped me feel beautiful in the skin I'm in, which gave me the confidence to feel free to be me and fearlessly authentic!

Now, I want to share with you five simple things I used everyday that made the biggest difference for my skin. And there also the five steps that I think are ESSENTIAL to every good skincare regimen.

1. Cleanser - Using a cleanser is an important step because it removes any impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil you have collected during the day. And it's important to wash your face with a cleanser in the morning to remove any toxins the skin eliminates at night and prepare it for applying make up.

2. Toner - Despite what many people think, toners are an important step and serve a purpose in treating your skin. Toners remove excess oil and give the appearance that your pores are smaller, restore the pH balance in your skin, help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, removes chlorine and minerals present in tap water, prevent ingrown hairs, and can even target specific skin concerns.

3. Hydrating Serum - Did you know that dehydrated skin is the number one cause of premature aging? I didn't know that either. That is why it is so important to hydrate your skin. Since your skin craves water so much, a simple step is to incorporate a Hydration Serum into your regimen. Unlike a moisturizer, a hydrator pulls moisture from the atmosphere and adds it to your skin throughout the day. I personally think every single person should use a Hydration Serum, especially if you have oily, dry, or combination skin. This is one of the absolute best things that has ever happened to my skin.

4. Moisturizer - A moisturizer is important because it retains the moisture you already have. This helps your skin stay healthy and youthful-looking. Plus, many moisturizers have SPF in them, which protects your skin from UV rays.

5. Eye cream - Did you know that the skin around your eye is thinner than other parts of your skin? This was news to me too. Eye Creams are formulated specifically for this delicate area and tend to be thicker than moisturizer. And some eye creams address concerns like fines lines, wrinkles, and under eye bags.

I hope this helps! The most important thing is for you to feel beautiful and confident in the skin you're in. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or would like to learn about my favorite products, I am just a click away. Feel free to email me at charlseychilders@yahoo.com
